CEVENTRIX™ as an FSMP

CEVENTRIX™ is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) for the dietary management of people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as an adjunct to ordinary diet. It contains a concentrate of the short chain fatty acid nutrient propionate, in the form of sodium propionate, and should be used under medical supervision. 

EU regulation 609/213 defines Food for Special Medical Purposes as follows: 

“Food for Special medical purposes” means food specially processed or formulated and intended for the dietary management of patients, including infants, to be used under medical supervision; it is intended for the exclusive or partial feeding of patients with a limited, impaired or disturbed capacity to take, digest, absorb, metabolize or excrete ordinary food or certain nutrients contained therein, or metabolites, or with other medically-determined nutrient requirements, whose dietary management cannot be achieved by modification of the normal diet alone»

CEVENTRIX™ is for patients over 18 years of age. The product should be used as a supplement to regular diet. Not for parenteral administration. Should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Keep out of range of children.
